Understand
Start with people and the system around them.
We listen and observe before we recommend. That means interviews with audiences and stakeholders, research, and time inside the organization to see how communication actually happens.
We also look at the existing systems and constraints: channels, ownership, budget, timeline, politics, and history. Friction usually lives somewhere specific, and naming it early saves the rest of the work.
